Who We Are

Since 1991, the National Breast Cancer Coalition's trained advocates have lobbied at the national, state and local levels for public policies that impact breast cancer research, diagnosis and treatment. Our grassroots advocacy effort has hundreds of member organizations and tens of thousands of individual members working toward increased federal funding for breast cancer research and collaborating with the scientific community to implement new models of research, improving access to high-quality health care and breast cancer clinical trials for all women, and expanding the influence of breast cancer advocates in all aspects of the breast cancer decisionnmaking process.

NBCC's sister organization, the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund, empowers and trains these advocates to be effective in every aspect of the fight to end breast cancer. NBCCF gives women the tools to make their own informed decisions and take a leadership role with legislative, scientific and clinical decisionmakers. NBCCF also helps guide the public through the maze of information on breast cancer.

What We Do

To achieve its mission, the National Breast Cancer Coalition has three primary goals:

  • Research: to promote research into the cause of and optimal treatments and cure for breast cancer through increased funding, improved coordination and distribution of research funds, and recruitment and training of scientists
  • Access: to improve access to high-quality breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and care for all women-particularly the underserved and uninsured-through legislation and change in the regulation and delivery of health care
  • Influence: to increase the involvement and influence of those living with breast cancer and other breast cancer activists in the decision-making processes that impact all aspects of the disease

The extensive efforts of NBCC's nationwide advocacy network have resulted in meaningful progress in the fight against breast cancer.
